My Mantra: “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

Hi, there! I’m Sarina and I love to read and write. I spend a lot of my time taking naps.

It is safe to say that migraine is a major part of my life. Once the pain and other symptoms hit, there is no stopping it or bringing it down. There was a time when my migraines were daily and I simply could not function. About a year passed and they got significantly better; I went from 30 migraine days a month to about 18. But when my other comorbid conditions started getting much worse, chronic migraine decided to remind me that it, too, could cause me daily suffering. I wake up every morning with a headache and it almost always develops into a full-fledged migraine.

Right now, migraine is affecting me every day and my doctors are simply at a loss. I have tried so many medications, alternative treatments, injections, and more, but nothing helps prophylactically. It is extremely frustrating and really affects my mental and emotional health.

I am 19, almost 20, and I am not living the “normal” young adult life. I am not attending a four-year university like I planned, or going out and partying. Instead, I spend most of my time in bed asleep or awake in pain.

Some of my other comorbid conditions are: Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Orthostatic Hypotension, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and more. These conditions along with chronic migraine make daily tasks almost impossible.

Cute animal pictures and reading poetry really help to improve my overall mood and instantly cheer me up. I have an 11-year-old black and tan coonhound named Ella that I love with all my might. Being a hound dog, her tendency to bark can be problematic, but sometimes I think she knows when I simply cannot take her barking. I would love to have a cat, but I am really allergic unfortunately.

My fiancé and I are getting married next year on November 3, 2019 and I am so excited! He is my rock and has truly been with me through it all.
